A Vocation Tasting Experience at Shibden Mill Inn

This Wednesday marked our 3rd annual tasting menu event at Shibden Mill Inn, an event aimed at showcasing the best of what the chefs at Shibden and we have to offer.

Shibden Mill Inn are an award winning venue, with their menu landing them in the Michelin Guide and winning 17th in Estrella Damm's Top 50 Gastro Pubs award - the perfect venue to showcase the range of our beers.

Six courses of incredible flavour were featured, each tailored to a specific Vocation brew that was hand-picked by the team at Shibden Mill Inn. They visited the brewery in March, given a tour of the facility, before being guided through a tasting of some of our latest and greatest to pick out their favourite six.

With the beers picked, the menu had to be created. We know that our huge range of beers have a wide variety of food pairing options, especially for a talented chef like Will Webster. Each of our beers were brilliantly paired with complimentary dishes that held some surprises on paper (personally I was unsure how Sticky Toffee Pudding and Pig Cheek Pie would work on the same plate), but delivered a dazzling impression on the taste buds and proved any doubters wrong.

The evening was a success, with our local sales representative, Stuart, and our technical brewer, Gary, providing valuable insight on the brewery, the industry and the beers. The cosy atmosphere and attentive staff at Shibden Mill Inn complimented this perfectly, creating an intimate experience for food and beer lovers alike.

Evenings and events such as these remind us of how thankful we are to our local community, for helping make us the brewery we are today and taking the time to support us at. They also allow us demonstrate how versatile our beer lineup is. Crush Hour, for instance, was just as at home here with Halibut and Compressed Grapes as it is on match day with a bowl of crisps. As a brewery, it's important to us that we find this balance, creating high quality craft beer as accessible as possible.
