VMworld 2017: Going back to back with NSX

VMworld 2017: Going back to back with NSX

Going back to back in anything is a challenge, yet somehow this year it is all around me. The Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup 2 years in a row, it is up in the air if my contribution of drinking beer and yelling at my TV had anything to do with their success and I received a speaking slot for VMworld 2 years in a row!

Last year, my presentation focused on how NSX can enhance a DRaaS solution. Adding NSX enables the ability to fail over the network at the same time you are failing over your servers. This dramatically reduces the time it takes to recover from hours to just minutes.

At Expedient, this is our Push Button DR solution, and our customers love it. In fact, Stanley Steemer called it magical! And, we were one of only 23 DRaaS providers positioned in the 2017 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Disaster Recovery as a Service.

But, if you are a competitor or an enterprise not ready to use an awesome service provider like us, don’t worry. In my session at VMworld last year, I shared our recipe on how we are using NSX so you can build the same environment. You can check out the full session here.

Now, another year has passed and Expedient continues to enhance our NSX capabilities. During VMworld 2017, I’ll be talking about how NSX can be the critical glue that bonds multiple clouds together to create a hybrid cloud.

Hybrid cloud is a big, broad, vague buzzword being thrown around the industry right now. Most think they have a hybrid cloud because they have an asset in AWS and are doing something hyper-converged on site. In my opinion, that is just a public and a private cloud; two separate silos that really don't know about each other. ARPANET kicked off the craze of networking two disparate silos together, and now I see NSX doing the same. We have made it happen at Expedient, and I’ll be showing an example during my VMworld 2017 presentation.

If you are heading to VMworld be sure to register for my session: LHC1809BU. If you are not attending, I will be sharing the presentation link once it is released.

Looking forward to seeing you at what will be my 7th VMworld!

Let's coordinate on VMworld this year. It's too confusing for us to be in the same room. ;-)
