Data Is Power

In trading, your historical data holds the keys to future strategies. But how do you unlock its potential?

Introducing: VLOOKUP

VLOOKUP in Excel is your data detective. It searches for specific information in your dataset and brings it to the forefront.

Here's a simple VLOOKUP example:

=VLOOKUP(lookup_value, table_array, col_index_num)

Let's break it down with a Forex dataset:

  • lookup_value: The Forex pair or trade ID you're searching for.
  • table_array: The range of cells containing your data.
  • col_index_num: The column number in the table_array corresponding to the information you want.

  • TRUE for an approximate match, or FALSE for an exact match.

How to Practice VLOOKUP

  • Create a simple dataset in Excel:

  • Use VLOOKUP to find the Profit/Loss for Trade ID 3:

=VLOOKUP(3,G9:K12,5,FALSE)

Solution: =VLOOKUP(3,G9:K12,5,FALSE)

=VLOOKUP(3,G9:K12,5,FALSE)
