Vitamin D Deficiency - Turning into an Epidemic

Though this topic has nothing to do with our profession, skills and expertise, which are in the domains for Salesforce.com Consulting, CRM Consulting and Cloud Computing Consulting Services.
But it just happened that in our extensive reading spheres, we bumped into quite a few medical article which talk about the increasing Vitamin D deficiency in humans.
Probably, the most impactful factor of Vitamin D deficiency is the inability of the human anatomy to absorb Calcium, from whatever we consume. One of the most important use of Calcium, in our bodies, is to build and to maintain stronger bone structure. In mature to older ages, weak bones can be cause of many discomforts and illnesses.
Our days not being spent working in the fields or working outside in the open, in bright sunshine, is probably the most important cause of Vitamin D deficiency in our bodies. Even if some of us venture out a lot in the sun, our exposed body parts (to sun) are thickly covered with sunscreen lotions and creams.
Hence, the direct sunlight, which is most easily absorbent source of Vitamin D, by our bodies, is becoming increasing rare in terms of directly touching our skin. But the need of Vitamin D by our body (for proper absorption of Calcium) may not be circumvented. Some of us who have luxury of spending time on sea beaches, during broad daylight, can be lucky enough to enable their bodies to absorb requisite units of Vitamin D. But, probably, some of the sun-protection skin creams and lotions used while on the beach, may come in the way of Vitamin D absorption.
Now, doctors are prescribing Vitamin D along with Calcium supplements to help the human bodies overcome the Vitamin D deficiency and to maintain requisite supply of Calcium (for bones) in the human bodies.
Let us be careful, get our Vitamin D level tested, and if need be start of with the prescribed sources of supplements, just to make sure that our body bone structure is maintained sturdy and strong. Also, time to include richer and healthier food items in our daily diets.
Wishing ALL, Happy Sun Bathing Hours!
