Visualizing A New Pan-Africanism through Afrofuturism and the Emergence of Modern African Architecture.
Kennesaw State University Pan Africa Week Welcomes Ms. Nmadili Okwumabua, Founder, The Community Planning & Design Initiative Africa. As we 'Build on the Foundation' created by the Afrofuturistic Nation of Wakanda from the film Black Panther, we envision endless possibilities for translating Pan African solidarity and unity, into the proverbial ‘Brick and Mortar’. In today's Pan Africa, we begin to physically develop the Societies, Communities and Nations inspired by the Cultures & Traditions of our Pan African Experience. Celebrating African truths and dispelling negative myths of Africa’s Cityscapes is explored in this exhilarating lecture and discussion by CPDI Africa Founder and distinguished Panelists.
The Community Planning & Design Initiative Africa (CPDI Africa), challenges creatives in the built environment to envision place and space, engaging international Architects and Urban Planers via biennial design competitions. Design, culture, traditions, spirituality, aesthetics and emerging indigenous technologies are explored for holistic, sustainable development in Africa and The Diaspora. In this conversation, Africa's’ past, present and future built environments emerge as a testament to her own ‘plethora of identities’.
The accompanying Art of African Architecture Exhibition promotes Afrofuturism and the built environment with Winning Designs from our CPDI Africa Modern Architecture Competitions, submitted by professionals from all over the world.
Welcome to this conversation on Visualizing A New Pan-Africanism through Afrofuturism and the Emergence of Modern African Architecture!
