Visualize Your Way to the Top!
In a recent interview U.S. Open champion tennis star, Bianca Andreescu, described her secret to success - visualization. That’s right, putting your mind there mentally to win. That approach worked wonders for her this past weekend at the U.S. Open where she beat Serena Williams. Here’s what she had to say in a post interview, “I have been visualizing ever since I was 12 or 13, my amazing mother introduced me to it. I think it’s one of the most powerful tools we have, our minds. I have been picturing myself holding that trophy for years!” She even went so far as to write herself a check for the tournament winnings! That’s belief in yourself, for sure.
I use this technique all the time in coaching sessions especially if I have someone fearful of failing in a live shots or a new anchor. I tell my clients to see themselves before the camera, doing well and even visualizing people looking at them with approval. I have used this technique myself numerous times before giving a speech. Yes, I get nervous, too. It’s so helpful and puts your mind there before the event begins. Also, helps you anticipate any potential problems. Visualization clearly works - puts your mind at rest and really boosts confidence!
