Introduction:
Data visualization is a powerful tool that helps us make sense of complex data by presenting it in a graphical format. By visualizing data, we can identify patterns, trends, and insights that might be missed when looking at raw numbers.
Objectives:
In this lab, you will create various charts to visualize data in Microsoft Excel.
Part 1: Creating a Line Chart ??
Step 1: Download the Data File
- Download the sample file Bike Sales_Visualizations_Lab.xlsx to your OneDrive and open it in MS 365 Excel.
Step 2: Insert the Line Chart
- Navigate to the Revenue and Profit by Year worksheet.
- Highlight the data from cells A3 to C8.
- From the Insert menu, select the Line chart tool and choose "Line with Markers."
Step 3: Format the Chart
- Change the vertical axis to display USD currency.
- Add the chart title “Revenue vs. Profits”.
- Rename the legend entries to “Annual Profit” and “Annual Revenue”.
- Reposition the legend to the right of the chart.
- Add axis titles: “Year” for the horizontal axis and “US Dollars” for the vertical axis.
Part 2: Creating a Column Chart ??
1. Step 1: Insert the Column Chart
- Navigate to the Product Revenue by Country worksheet.
- Highlight the data from cells A3 to E10.

Step 2: Format the Chart
- Title the chart “Product Revenue by Country”.
- Format the vertical axis to display Currency with zero decimal places.
- Reposition the legend to the right.
- Add axis titles: “Country” for the horizontal axis and “US Dollars” for the vertical axis.
Part 3: Creating a Pie Chart ??
1. Step 1: Insert the Pie Chart
- Navigate to the Revenue by Age Group worksheet.
- Highlight the data from cells A3 to B7.
- From the Insert menu, select the Pie chart tool and choose the "2D-Pie."
2. Step 2: Format the Chart
- Title the chart “Revenue Comparison by Age Group”.
- Reposition the legend to the right.
- Add data labels displaying both the Category Name and Percentage.
