Visiting Slush

Last week both my colleague Wil Ruijsbroek and I visited?Slush?in Helsinki. As they say: ‘It is the biggest Dutch startup representation to date, to the world’s leading startup event.’?

This ultra high-energy trade show made a huge impression on me as people from all over the world were open to talk with everybody, were happy to share ideas and had a very positive attitude.?

Slush is mainly focused on matchmaking between startups and investors. This creates innovation oriented conversations without big ego’s in the way.?The Slush matchmaking tool?allowed an easy assessment if an investor could be of potential interest, send an invitation and plan meetings.?

But not only did we meet investors.?Instead of the typical “hockey stick pitch” meetings, I found companies were open to share their challenges and willing to discuss how to solve them by using our technologies.?

While waiting in the queue I couldn’t help hearing two gentlemen talking about a relevant subject. I asked if I could join the conversation and the three of us dove into the subject, found common interest and exchanged contact details.??By talking to a variety of companies coming from different markets I could test the potential of these markets.

During our stay we’ve met so many interesting people with interesting ideas, highly valuable in knowledge, resource and network to our company.

Our Epsilon M technology is able to contactless identify (non) ferrous metals on conveyor belts. Several Investment companies, scrap company and bottom ash company showed interest and confirmed our ideas about the potential in the recycling market.

I was very inspired by the conversations and ready to?follow up on?these newly formed connections?and broadcast outcomes.
