A Visit with New York Times Best-Selling Author Andy Andrews

One of the highlights of recently attending the Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama conference was attending a book signing by New York Times best-selling author Andy Andrews. He has written many books, but my favorite so far is The Heart Mender: A Story of Second Chances. His writing reminds us of the power of forgiveness and the universal healing experience of letting go. Andy gave us so many powerful nuggets in our time with him:

  • The greatest advice he received 40 years ago – You must remember you cannot believe everything you think.
  • Most disasters are disasters of communication.
  • Consider integrity and character separately. Integrity means being trustworthy, reliable, and capable of performing tasks. Character means actively doing what is right and speaking up rather than turning away from injustice.
  • If thinking is the foundation of our business culture, we can choose how we think, what we read, what we watch, and who we surround ourselves with. We need to raise our quantity of thinking.
  • What you truly believe determines the level of your performance. If you have confidence and believe in yourself, it will affect your performance.
  • Prayer is what moves the dial.

Love Andy Andrew’s writings! Thank you for posting Joe!

Jealous, one of my favorite authors! He came to Canterbury UMC years ago and I loaded up on autographed books.
