Our organization has been honored by several entities over the past few years for outstanding work in tourism and economic development.
Our Visit Manhattan team continued the success last week receiving two significant awards from the Travel Industry Association of Kansas (TIAK).

TIAK presents awards at its annual meeting each year. This year’s event was in Olathe.

Visit Manhattan received two first place awards in the large budget category:

One award was a first place for online/digital media. Our team created a "Be Somebody Somewhere" project as a promotional online initiative aimed at highlighting the unique local culture, charm and appeal of Manhattan, Kansas to the fans of the HBO Series Somebody Somewhere featuring Bridget Everett. Bridget, a native of Manhattan and a celebrated comedian, singer, and actress, is the star of the series set here in her hometown. We filmed in the locations of the show for an almost 8-minute video and utilized clips from that video on social media. We even made a life-size Bridget now found in the locations so her fans can take selfies to be posted on our website page with the hashtag #BridgetMHK.

The second first place award was a print marketing campaign. Our new Manhappiness print marketing campaign has grabbed the attention of travelers throughout Kansas and the Midwest.? Our print pieces aim to highlight our fun-loving charm and vibrant college-town spirit. Through engaging visuals and bright colors, our branding of “Find your Manhappiness” allows for numerous options to express joy and friendliness to visit Manhattan.

A big shout out to our creative partners at New Boston for their work on both campaigns. We certainly could not have done this without the tremendous professionals there.

I’m also pleased to let you know that our former Director, Karen Hibbard, was honored with the 2024 Governor’s Tourism Award. This award recognized her lifetime of support for the Kansas tourism industry.
