A Visit to Florida + More

A Visit to Florida + More

Happy Wednesday and welcome to another edition of Coffee & Concrete! The coffee is flowing on this fine, almost spring day. I'm switching things up and starting today's newsletter with a video. Let me know how you like it!

Our team recently visited Truemont Materials in Green Cove Springs, FL, near the Jacksonville area. Truemont Materials | Precast Concrete Manufacturer is our sole producer of Pole Base from Central Florida, all the way to Southern Georgia. Hear from Andy Manthei , the General Manager at Truemont, about what makes Pole Base such a great fit for FL + GA projects!

We had the chance to check out some local Pole Base projects while in Jacksonville, and came across a helicopter landing pad project that was completed for the University of Florida Health North campus. The Pole Bases on this project were used to support a wind sock and a rotating beacon.

Pole Base is a Great Application for Rotating Beacons.
Pole Base is a Great Application for Wind Socks.

A wind sock is used at airports and landing pads to show the direction and strength of the wind to pilots, and a rotating beacon is used for heliport night operations as a location marker. Pretty neat, right? The strength and reliability of precast Pole Bases lends itself well to other concrete foundation applications, like this one.

Not only did we get the grand tour of Pole Base projects, but we also toured Truemont's production facility, where they produce Pole Base on the daily, and carry a suite of other precast concrete products including Redi-Rock retaining walls, and Rosetta Hardscapes. I especially liked the "sandbox" they have constructed to showcase some of the premier Rosetta products.

During our tour of Truemont, we got a look at their collection of Pole Base forms. Pole Base forms start out all yellow and shiny, but with a few pours, a "worn-in" look takes over, which is totally normal and doesn't impair the forms ability to create flawless bases.

Each and every Pole Base form is made in Northern Michigan in the Petoskey area, by a talented team of Aster Brands fabricators and engineers.

To close today's article I want to set a goal, and I need your help!

Our Pole Base YouTube channel is just a few subscribers short of 400! I'd love to see this number hit 500. So please share our channel! You'll find a collection of informational Pole Base videos, as well as a new shorts series, "On the Road with Pole Base!". Follow along with us as we visit our producers, attend tradeshows, and more!
