"Visions of Change" is an online exhibition that showcases the transformative power of photography through the works of Amy Sarr, Frederick Botchway, and Kevin Onyango. This exhibition highlights how these artists use their medium to question, challenge, and reshape our understanding of societal issues and cultural identities.
Amy Sarr’s photography is deeply rooted in her experience of navigating multiple cultures. Her images explore themes of migration, tradition, and the female experience, using light and texture to capture the subtle nuances of cultural identity. Sarr’s work is both a personal exploration and a broader commentary on the complexities of the diaspora experience.?
By juxtaposing different cultural elements, she invites viewers to see the richness and ambiguity in cultural exchange.
Frederick Botchway’s approach to photography and painting breaks traditional boundaries. His work incorporates elements of Western art history while infusing them with contemporary Ghanaian contexts. By superimposing cooking oil with oil paint on photographic prints, Botchway creates unique pieces that challenge the conventional hierarchy of artistic genres. His experimental techniques and minimalist sensibilities push the boundaries of what art can be, offering new perspectives on historical and cultural narratives.
