VisionICT are supporting SlumAid in India

“Young children in the slums have a great hunger for learning”

This October, Daniel Hillier, Director of Vision ICT, has teamed up with SlumAid to spend three weeks in Mumbai teaching English to the local children.

SlumAid is a non-profit organization working with some of the world’s poorest communities in education and healthcare to help empower people to change their lives in schools, health clinics and community development projects.

This project is close to Daniel’s heart and he has started volunteering at the school in Mumbai, helping to teach English to the young students at the school.

“For the majority of the children, English is their third language,” says Daniel Hillier of Vision ICT, “I don’t know enough Hindi to speak to them in their second language either…it is really great to know that what I have done helps the children and I really enjoy seeing them improve as I work with them.”

As well as volunteering in the school, Daniel’s SlumAid visit to India has also included an unexpected trip to Kolkata to watch England win the U17 World Cup as well as stopping in Goa and New Delhi.

Daniel Hillier and Vision ICT are committed to helping those not as fortunate as ourselves and are asking for donations of children’s books and children’s DVDs to send via SlumAid to help the children he has worked with.

If you would like to make a donation, please contact Gemma Charles at Vision ICT on 01392 669497.
