Visionary strategy to lead in sustainable energy
We are back with a new edition of our Newsletter! This week we are thrilled to announce that we have been listed by the Financial Times as one of the European Climate Leaders 2023 due to our visionary and pioneering strategy ??. Our growth story over the past 20 years is one we’re incredibly proud of and is even being studied at Harvard University as a global benchmark for what is achievable. We have not only created unstoppable growth in #renewables, but have also fundamentally improved our distribution networks and ?turned our company into a global leader.????
Iberdrola, which entered the Spanish market as a listed company in 2001, is now the largest energy company in Europe by market share and the second largest electricity company in the world ??. We’re a leader in renewables, and are championing the energy transition for a low-emission economy, supplying energy to more than 100 million people in dozens of countries. We are always looking to develop our renewable, network and commercial businesses in Europe, the United States, Brazil, Mexico and Australia, and drive new growth platforms in markets such as Japan, Taiwan, Ireland, Sweden and Poland, among others ??.
But that is not all! This has been a quarter of growth and investment into green energy, with more than 40,000 MW of installed capacity to date and a record investment of €12 million in quarter one alone.

This week in our 'Renewables around the world' series, we look to Germany where the construction of our second offshore wind farm in the country, Baltic Eagle, continues. Last week we successfully installed the first foundation for the wind farm on the Baltic seabed ????, which joins the power substation which was installed in February this year.?
In addition, we have signed a new agreement with the Salzgitter Flachstahl GmbH steel group to supply them with 100% clean energy from this wind farm.
Once complete, Baltic Eagle will supply green energy to almost half a million households and is part of our commitment to developing offshore wind ??, which is gaining momentum, with 6 new projects under development, which will be operational by 2026.
