VISION: WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN VISION STARES BACK AT YOU?
How easy is it to say: “My vision for the future is….” when everything is going well or you fell like you’re on top of the world? Or how about that promotion you’ve been so desperately waiting for? And then BOOM! You finally got it! These are the times when your vision, which may seem so far away, actually feels reachable and closer than you think. In other words, these are the good times in our lives, where the sky is the limit!
Right???
But what about those other times when your solid, clear, and reachable goal or vision is just not achievable? Or for some reason or another; you’re just not motivated to get there? Or what about the other times when you try to reach your goal or vision; it seems like everything from heaven above is trying to prevent you from achieving your destiny…What do you do?
Do you remember this famous Star Wars quote???
Yes!!! We all need hope!
Hope is the light that we all hold tight
When all we see is darkness through that pitch black night
But Vision is Fuel that makes Hope burn bright
And keeps Hope’s Flame Eternal beyond our very sight!

Here are three steps I’ve incorporated in my life to keep me going when my vision gets blurred or when I get lost along the way.
STEP 1:
When my life gets foggy and questionable because of circumstances beyond or within my control; I default back to my vision and my dreams.
Dreaming of better things to come is a healthy thing we should all practice daily. Our planet and our lives are…frankly…being over populated. Our dreams and aspirations seem to be blending or impeding on one another. Some for the good and some for the bad! It seems sometimes we can’t even catch a good breath without our visual awareness rolling into something dark, crazy, or just plain messy. Wrong is right, up is down, walking sideways is normal and normal is strange. This is why now more than ever, meditation and day dreaming is actually healthy for your well-being. This is one of my little coping mechanisms that I use to get my vision on track and clear, regardless of what crazy or negative situation may come my way.
STEP 2:
When I get lost or I can’t find my vision or my point of reference, I make a new path.
One of the greatest lessons I've learned while serving in the United States Army was the lesson of how make my own path. Now, don’t get me wrong; this is by no means an easy task. In fact, it is actually the hardest thing to do when you need to get back on track to your vision fast; especially when you have no resources and no allies. Therefore, here are my tricks within my step:
A) I put up a red flare: Sometimes, there may be someone closer than you think that may have exactly what you need and Vice Versa. So how would you know if you don’t put up a signal?
B) I take account of the resources I already have: I know this is hard to believe…but you are never without anything! Sometimes if you just take a look around or reach into your pockets, you may find that one thing that will get you out of your situation. And sometimes having nothing at all….can be your savior in the end. Think about what I just said carefully. Do you remember what your grandparents use to say??? “…How can you take something away from me if all I have is nothing???”
C) If you don’t have an ally or resources…DO NOT GIVE UP!!! MOVE!!! One of the key points of making your own path is movement! Standing still will get you nowhere fast. Therefore, moving forward is sometimes the best way to get you somewhere, because eventually you will reach a point where you can find something to assist you to get back on track.
STEP 3:
When failure is staring directly at me, I always remind failure that vision is staring at him from behind.
When I am faced with enormous obstacles or when I feel I may not achieve my goal; something around me reminds me where my vision is located and how lucky I am to be so close to it. Yes, it may sound cheesy and it may sound a bit cliche, but…it's 100% true! Every…single…time…I feel I'm not worthy of accomplishing my goal or someone else deems that I’m not capable of fulfilling a certain role; I’m always constantly being reminded by something or someone that I CAN ACHIEVE MY VISION! This is why I continuously remind failure that without it…I would not be here. And you should too!!!
We are at the halfway mark through 2019.
Don’t give up…Keep Moving!
