Vision vs Goals vs Purpose
#sundaythoughts 12/27/2020
As I'm about the enter the 25th year of being in the working world (started early at 18!), I often introspect and think whether I had a clear vision on where I'd want to be at 25, 35 or 45, any goals or simply a purpose to whatever I did and in whatever capacity? No straight forward answer as it's been a journey of several firsts, several hits & misses but undeniably, of several learning's and of continuous evolution.
Most people, especially ones starting up, whether their professional or entrepreneurial journeys have their future place in the world mapped to conventional - society conditioned goals and often measure their success in terms of what has/has not been achieved. That starts a spiral journey of always tying their happiness to a bigger goal - often material in nature and a host of disappointments. No golden rule but it does work for some people also who have straight line careers as they chase a corporate ladder and steadily reach the top.
With the evolution of work options, one doesn't need to have specific peer pressure driven goals in mind but should focus more on a #vision and #purposedriven work.
One can and should aim to create impact in whatever they do and as the late #stevejobs once quoted, “You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.
Somehow and without having any straight goals in mind, the above has always worked for me & I have always been content with where I am in my journey trusting that with absolute passion and effort, one can contribute much more rather than chasing some light at the end of a tunnel.
Trust me, the path is the light, the tunnel is the one we create and then are forever bound by it to escape.
So, be open, be curios and keep going on !
P.S : This is a prelude to year or decade ending thoughts and being a spiritualist + minimalist, I do have them clearly "mapped out" !
