A Vision for Regenerative Psychology Practices: Reflecting on 2023 and Envisioning 2024

A Vision for Regenerative Psychology Practices: Reflecting on 2023 and Envisioning 2024

As we approach the end of 2023 and eagerly anticipate what 2024 has in store, I'd like to share some insights into our journey at Inspiring Psychology Practices especially with our programme The Psychology Practice Accelerator (tm).?

This year, we've been on a transformative path, redefining what it means to accelerate psychology practices in alignment with our values of fostering creativity, wholeness, living systems, and a regenerative approach to business.

Our journey took off in earnest back in 2020 when we organised our first virtual regenerative retreat for private practices during the lockdowns. This experience set us on a course of exploration into regenerative approaches to business and life.

In 2022, we deepened our understanding by participating in Carol Sanford 's regenerative seed community, further shaping our vision for the future.

The first half of 2023 saw us working closely with experts like Liz Talago and Tania Bhattacharyya to uncover our brand stories, distill our essence, and translate it into engaging narratives.

This process clarified our purpose—to accelerate a just transition to a well-being economy within planetary boundaries, with psychologists in private practice playing a pivotal role in resourcing individuals and communities through this vital shift.

Islands of Coherence in Psychology Practice

I'm inspired by the words of Ilya Prigogine, "When a system is far from equilibrium, small islands of coherence have the capacity to shift the entire system."

We firmly believe that psychologists, operating their own practices, can create tipping points that lead to islands of coherence that will ultimately shift the system in life-giving directions.

? Sometimes the chaos is internal to individuals. Psychologists work to help people create inner coherence from their chaos.?

? Sometimes the chaos is relational. Psychologists work to create coherence between people.

?

? Sometimes the chaos comes from a system like an organisation. We can help create more coherent systems too.

?

? Finally, we can create coherent practices for ourselves so we can move more easily through chaos in our own lives. ?

I believe passionately and fervently in how important psychologists' contributions are to creating a just transition to a well-being economy? within planetary boundaries.?

?? We don't have to be bound to organisations, businesses or practices that suck the life out of us.

?? We can create practices that restore our life force and becomes conduits that replenish our families and communities.?

?? We can be connected as a community of psychologists in private practice. Isolation is not inevitable.

??We can create products and services alongside and with our clients without exploiting them.

??We can lead courageously from a place of meaning, purpose and safety we create for ourselves.

In September 2023, twenty courageous practitioners joined us for our eighth cohort of The Psychology Practice Accelerator (tm) and committed to spending ten months accelerating their practice towards more justice, fairness, equality, compassion, and humanity for the people, communities and organisations they serve, as well as more thriving, innovation, creativity, prosperity and contentment for themselves.

In our upcoming article, part two of this series, we will delve deeper into the foundational layer of an inspiring psychology practice—Healing in Practice. This theme will be central to the second series of our podcast, "Inspiring Psychologists: Breaking the Mould of Private Practice."?

Join us in two weeks as we explore how healing forms the bedrock of a practice that rejuvenates, connects, innovates, and leads with purpose.

Together, we can create practices that enrich our lives and those of our communities, dispelling isolation, and embracing meaningful, courageous leadership.?

Really responded to your comment, Wendy "pivoting isn't a linear process; it's a dynamic journey. Think of it as a walk through the forest, with moments of undergrowth and brush, but also those precious clearings. Embrace the organic nature of the process and avoid comparing yourself to others." I think the winter is a great time for this very important reflection time-Thank you!?

The best advice I got was from you a few years back when you recommended working in a values-based way and utilising a regenerative model to recruit and retain staff/associates. I’ve not looked back. It’s not always easy but my team now remind me to ‘rethink’ if I begin to veer off course. How wonderful if that ?? Thank you for that steer (amongst others), Wendy!

I love what you are up to! But, I have no Mastermind communities. That seems filled with hubris and arrogance. Learning to Master Our own Minds is closer. There are no Master's in this work. But thanks for your great work!
