A lost vision is a missed opportunity to make your business a game-changer.
The new year is the perfect opportunity to revisit your business vision. Whether you’re a one person start up or at the helm of a company with a thousand employees, having a clear vision that truly reflects your beliefs will help to guide every decision you make and unite your team behind a common goal.
Too many businesses will carefully craft a vision statement, file it away and forget about it. If you have gone through this process in the past, now is the time to think about why you weren’t able to fulfil this vision in 2016. What roadblocks did you face? What compromises did you make? And what changes you can implement next year to bring you closer to the business you set out to create?
Think big and dare to dream about what mark you want to make on the world. Choosing to set up your own business was a clear indication that you meant to make a difference, so do just that in 2017.

7 年If somebody has difficulty to "remember" his vision, than I would ask question, if this is really something what he wants. If you fall in love with somebody, than you do not need to remind yourself every day, that you are in love with this person. This another person is like screen saver in your mind. Same is true for any vision or goal.

7 年A leader needs to have a vision of the future and be able to communicate it to everyone in their organisation. If you can get everyone from the boardroom to the shop floor aligned behind an agreed objective you will have a much greater chance of success.

7 年Great article Russell. Important to remember your brand too. Your vision statement might be very similar to your competitors'. Your brand should be unique.

7 年For me a vision is only as effective or useful as your ability to communicate that vision to your employees, clients etc. Many businesses have an empowering and motivating vision in place but others just don't know about it or truly understand it. Great post Russell, its something on my agenda for the coming weeks and I'm sure many others right now.
