Vision, Character, and Values
These three words on their own may take on various meanings or contexts, but collectively they make up a company’s mantra and purpose in conducting the business it conducts. At its core a company should craft each of these messages to fit their culture, passions, and goals as a whole…no matter how big or small!
In turn any company worth its salt should also hire individuals who reflect or display attributes similar to such verbiage. Likewise, many employees and job seekers can experience employers who offer lip service and never truly live up to the words or motto’s in these three areas.
Do you know what your company's Vision, Character, or Values are?
If you don't know them I suggest you go to your company's main web page and see if you can find them (hint: "About Us" is usually a good starting point). The only action I am asking you to take, is that when you read through the vision, character, and values that you consider the following questions for yourself:
- Do these statements match up with what drives me as an individual?
- Are the skills and services I am providing in my role helping to foster or flounder the company vision/character/values?
- Does my company/management/teammate reflect these vision/character/values?
If your answers weren’t what you expected, don’t be discouraged...are you willing to make the appropriate changes that match up with the company's stance?
Individually we have a new opportunity each day to make the changes we want/need to make and each day we have the opportunity to do our very best to achieve the results and goals we collectively created!
