Visibility is a choice
Digital Women's Innovator of 2023 -me!

Visibility is a choice

This week, I attend Lucy Hall Digital Women ? Awards in London as I was a finalist for Innovator of the year, and surprisingly I actually won, which I am thrilled about!

Here's a few lessons to draw from my experience.

1. It's safer in many ways to stay at home, or is it?!!!

I admit as an introvert I really did want to stay at home and not traipse down from the Midlands to attend Lucy's wonderful event in London, even if I had the potential to win my first business award!

But in my heart I knew, that visibility is a choice, although not always an easy choice it is a choice.

Also, I remembered why I was doing what I do, was to help others find the courage to become more visible so by me attending Lucy's event I was literally walking my talk

2 Nothing beats showing up in person!

I actually attended two of Lucy Hall 's events this week in London after the Digital Women ? awards I attended SocialDay ? with my colleague Anica Broms and it was a real joy!

Even though I admit my introverted self wanted to leave much earlier than we did. I listened to some wonderful presentations, and an amazing panel discussion, won a hoodie from and made some new connections.

I am still processing it all and reaching out to people I made connections with, which feels actually pretty lovely.

3. The more visible you are the easier it is to attract more clients and grow your business.

I know you know this, but it's a reality that many still overlook, including myself as I admit I find it easier to help others become more visible than do it myself!

Just from these two events alone, I have had several leads for work come to me via dm's and I know it is just the start.

4. Remember you are your greatest asset.

For me, I know I can forget this, so when I won this award, it made me realise and appreciate the value that I bring to the table through who I am and what I do uniquely. I have been innovating for a while, and it's marvellous to be recognised for this and its also given me tremendous confidence moving forward with several creative plans I have in the works for next year!

I am sure many of you experience from time to time like me comparisionitis, which is natural and normal and sometimes just being a bit more visible like me this week can really help to shake it off!

5. Nothing changes unless you do!

This is hard truth that even I find hard to take at times, I admit that.
So moving forward, I am committed come what may to become a lot more visible, as hiding in the shadows is doing me no favours whatsoever.

Whilst being hidden, has been a painful comfort trap really, if I am honest, I know from this point forward I am not going to be hiding like I used to.

Lots of exciting plans in the works for the last few days of 2023 and so much to come in 2024, it feels like the right time.

And you? What is being less visible costing you?
