Viscosity Before Engine High or Low !

#Viscosity is a measure of how thick or thin a fluid is. It affects how easily the fluid flows and how much resistance it offers to movement. In general, high viscosity means more resistance and low viscosity means less resistance.

For engine fuel #consumption, the optimal #viscosity depends on various factors such as engine type, design, speed, load, temperature, etc. However, some general principles can be applied:

  • High viscosity can be good for engine protection, because it can form thicker films between the moving parts and reduce wear and tear. However, high viscosity can also increase friction and energy loss, which can reduce engine performance and fuel efficiency. Therefore, high viscosity fuels need to be heated and injected at high pressure to improve atomization and combustion.
  • Low viscosity can be good for engine performance and fuel efficiency, because it can reduce friction and energy loss, and improve atomization and combustion. However, low viscosity can also compromise engine protection, because it can form thinner films between the moving parts and increase wear and tear. Therefore, low viscosity fuels need to have adequate lubricity and additives to prevent corrosion and deposits.

The following summarizes some of the benefits and drawbacks of high and low viscosity for engine fuel consumption:

High Viscosity

  • Better engine protection - Less oil consumption - Less leakage
  • Higher friction and energy loss - Lower engine performance and fuel efficiency - Higher fuel heating and injection costs

Low Viscosity

  • Lower friction and energy loss
  • Higher engine performance and fuel efficiency
  • Lower fuel heating and injection costs
  • Worse engine protection
  • Higheroil consumption
  • Higher leakage

Now decide what you will run, High viscosity before engine or low viscosity

It's always a trade off between one thing and the other. It's not a one fit for all.
