2020 started with the rat, chattering and clanging its drums, I was skeptical of the year to be as the lions came dancing after the end of the lunar year in my office. “Good or bad”, let’s take it with a pinch of salt said I. Targets and KPI lined up to be met; posting, sourcing, searching and combing the world wide web; profiling to get the best talent hired; to be the best in the industry. Rain or shine recruitment life goes on!
Then came the virus, inconspicuousness, and suddenly boom we are quarantined. The world stays at home! No more air-conditioned office, no desk, no comfy chair, no quick run to the pantry or a hi! to a colleague. Worst, no orders! The world of recruitment is silence, yet I squirrel away whatever can be salvaged, I work from my hot and humid home collecting data, thinking what now? How do I survive this? What should I do? This unprecedented times but the work methodology has not changed!
I need to evolve; work life will never be the same. Fear of losing a job, fear of unemployment fear of the virus that stole my daily work will haunt the back of my mind. Forever.
