16th June,2020 was yet another sad day for Indians. Apart from the loss of 9900 lives due to the virus, significantly, 20 personnel of the Indian Army lost their lives. However, there was no gun shots. The 20 men of the Indian army lost their lives defending their motherland. We are proud of them but at the same time we are guilty for leading our lives at their cost. It is not whether the loss is 20 or more. Loss of one life is important. Why should even 1 person lose his life. We have to take each person into consideration. Newspapers are carrying the photographs of their parents, wife, children and friends. This is not enough. The whole nation has to show solidarity to be behind the bereaved family.
The medical teams are fighting the dreaded Corona Virus with gusto. For a country's size like India, with over 1.3 billion population the fight against the virus is a challenge. Other countries are also fighting the virus. We do not want any person to died due to the virus anywhere in the world leave aside India. Our magnanimity is such. Our people are in the medical teams in most of the advanced countries. Indian doctors, nurses, para medical force are serving not only in the country but also abroad. With the news that New Zealand has wiped out deaths due to Corona virus. This is indeed heartening for the whole world. The world has come to believe that the menace of the virus can be ended too.
The biggest anxiety for the virus is that no vaccine has been invented as yet. Several countries are attempting to bring out medicines/vaccines but no one has been successful as yet. However, the virus can be controlled within a couple of months. Till then we have to observe strict discipline in protecting ourselves. While staying safely away is being encouraged, equally important is building immunity in the body.
The fight against the virus is not restricted to one country. 195 countries are fighting the dreaded virus. After a long time the world stood united.
Carona virus led to lock down in countries. People stayed at home. Work from home came to be done by commercial organisations. Government offices also followed for the sake of the country. Factories and commercial set ups stopped work. People were suddenly left without jobs. In US loss of jobs is more than 2.5 Cr. The figure in India is over 12.5 Cr. In India, offices in the Government Sector and in the private sector have opened but job loss continue to be reported. Government of India has announced financial stimulus for micro, small and medium enterprises as they form the back bone of the industrialised India though it is taking time to regularise things. The virus has not stopped spreading and unless it stops spreading nothing can be normalised.
Education has been hit. Schools,Colleges have gone into online mode. There is uncertainty all round.
In the work front, there are serious issues for blue collar workers. Contractual workers who went from far of places to be engaged in work leaving their families suffered due to the current situation. Referred to as migrant workers, being disowned by their employers had to leave for home with empty pockets. While many reached some met with their end in different forms. The tragedy is a chapter by itself.
In the midst of such a grave situation where human beings have come to realise that tomorrow has no certainty, India has met with the sudden aggression of China. Nepal has also raised the border issue. Intruders from Pak occupied India, are regularly creating trouble. Neighboring countries are all trying to create life difficult for the country.
China wants to create trouble for India to show to the world that India is a vulnerable place. Safety is lacking. So foreign investors who want to shift base from China are indirectly threatened that India is not a safe destination so no investment should be planned in the country. Corona has crippled exports from China and imports from the country are expected to dwindle further. If imports from China is reduced there will be recession in their country leading to closure of industries and job loss.
China is aiming at unsettling India with the aim of taking away attention of blocking FDI follow into India from China. This has led to China taking up aggression against India by raising border issues. Cleverly they did not use guns to attack but took to use of weapons which led to the taking the lives of our army personnel. 20 personnel killed in 2020 is something significant with the number 20 being common. Loss of life to China after a gap of about 47 years. We the people of the country should unite to withstand the move of China. Like the 20 army personnel we also have to be prepared to lay down our lives to save the pride of our nation.
I remember as a student how we were sent home from hostel in 1962 without sitting for the final examination. We returned to school in 1963 . By the time the war had ended.
This is not going to stop but is set to aggravate and we need to be prepared to face any situation. `Vande Martaram.'
