Virtuous Circle: How feedback helps both the customer and the supplier

We often hear how important feedback is to the process of condition monitoring. Here’s an example.
We were commissioning the CMS systems on a windpark where we had just installed. One of the turbines was showing much higher levels of rotational speed on the main bearing than on turbines with a similar drivetrain.
So we sent a ticket with a few suggestions as to what the problem might be, focussing on potential issues with the blades/pitch system.
Shortly afterwards we received the message that a hydraulic pump had been replaced on the turbine. The effect of this is visible on the right hand side of the plot. So now we know to add hydraulic pump to the list of checks made when we see the rotational speed of the main shaft come up on these machines.
It’s great that feedback can provide information, which in future will help us to help our customers.
