VIRTUOSO TRAVEL WEEK 2024: A CELEBRATION OF MEXICAN HERITAGE AND CULTURE

Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal made a remarkable impact with its immersive and culturally rich experiences, showcasing the essence of Mexican heritage and the unique offerings of our resort.

Preparing the Scene with Globetrotting

Virtuoso Travel Week kicked off with the Globetrotting experience located in the Culinary Pavilion. Our team meticulously crafted a sensory experience, focusing on aromatherapy and ancestral herbalism and the introduction of one of Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal’s signature experiences: “Craft Your Own Mezcal.”?

During these days, with distinctive elements from Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal and Mexico, visitors had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the heart of Mexican culture.

A Cultural Journey Through Aromatherapy

Each visitor was taken on a cultural journey through four aromatic essences, each offering emotional benefits such as balance and well-being. These aromatic oils prepared the travel agents in the best possible way for the annual Travel Week. During each appointment, visitors were immersed in the cultural essence of Pedregal, filled with excitement as they experienced a piece of our resort right in Las Vegas.

A Historical and Cultural Exploration

Throughout Saturday and Sunday, from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm, our team guided our Virtuoso Travel Week visitors on a historical journey of cultural recognition, exploring the rich heritage of both our resort and Mexico. This journey delved into the origins of Mexican herbalism and its significance in cuisine, culture, and history. It concluded with a taste of healthy cocktails crafted by our bar director, David Hernandez Morales . These cocktails were inspired by the aromatic essences that the travel agents experienced.

A Journey Through the Day of the Dead and the Agave Study Speakeasy Pop-up

Following the Globetrotting events on Sunday, preparations began for the highly anticipated Agave Study Speakeasy Pop-Up, an exclusive experience with a waiting list of eager attendees.

The Speakeasy doors opened on Tuesday and Wednesday to welcome over 300 guests, including travel advisors, owners, and partners. Together, they embarked on a journey through one of Mexico's most cherished traditions: Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead).

The experience began the moment guests entered the suite, passing through a recreation of the only private tunnel in Mexico, providing the sensation of having arrived at Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal. In the entrance hall, Francisco Alatorre performed live Mexican music adorned in Catrín makeup, hinting at the speakeasy's thematic elements.

Upon entering the Speakeasy, guests passed through a floral arch, symbolizing the entrance to the world of the dead in Mexican folklore. Hanging marigold flowers (cempasúchil) represented the sun and were dedicated to those who are no longer among the living.

Inside the Speakeasy, key elements of this revered tradition were displayed, including skulls, alebrijes, symbolic images, and natural elements (fire, water, air, and earth). The F&B team, led by Assistant Director Jesus León , Bar Director David Hernandez Morales , and Agave Study at the Peacock Alley Supervisor Juan Durán, were on hand to enhance the experience.
