Virtual Team Paradigm: COVID-19

Conscious Leadership Series:

20 point road map for Managers & Supervisors to consider and hone while mobilizing to lead remote teams in response to this unprecedented and uncertain COVID-19 environment of containment.

Given the current climate, below is a road map for how we’re assisting our clients to more effectively manage and supervise remote teams, as many are called on to raise the bar on communication effectiveness, role-modeling and Conscious Leadership.

1.       Define Conditions (transparency)

2.       Create a Game Plan

3.       Assume "Positive Intent"

4.       Team Introductions (if necessary)

5.       Clarity of Communication & Direction

6.       Goals & Expectations (define assignments)

7.       Agreements & Commitments: Contribution by All

8.       Reinforce Team Values: (Trust, Respect, Integrity, Effective Communications, Collaboration and Patience)

9.       Support Infrastructure (resources: additional information, “stop button”)

10.    Focus on Relationship Building

11.    Written guidelines - Define communication/messaging via each communication platform (efficiencies)

12.    Build Morale

13.    Remove ambiguity

14.    Regular updates (pulse-check)

15.    Cultural Differences & Time Zones: Be equitable & avoid colloquialisms

16.    Encourage teams to meet regularly via video conference

17.    Metrics: Productivity & Accountability

18.    Time-tracking Software & Tools: Harvest, or Toggl

19.    Daily Check-In’s: Conduct one-on-ones (progress reporting & burn-out)

20.    Breathe

TECHNOLOGY: Tools & Software (test & consider trial periods if unfamiliar)

? Chat: Slack, Twist, Google Hangouts

? Project Management: Trello, Jira, Asana

? Web & Video Conferencing: Google Meet, GoToMeeting, Zoom, Webex

? Collaboration & Prototyping: Invision, Marvel, Adobe XD

? Scheduling: Calendy, Doodle

? Workflow Automation: Zapier, Microsoft Flow, Monday
