Virtual Reality web browsing with Google Chrome

Of course the tech heads in my circles know that Google has been and still is experimenting with how to get their mobile Chrome browser ready for VR web and they now seem to have it figured out. Well at least they have some cool ideas of how to get you VR browsing the web.

Fran?ois Beaufort, a Chrome developer evangelist, has posted on his Google+ about a new WebVR flag which allows for browsing the web using a compatible VR headset, such as Google Cardboard or Daydream.

"The Chromium team is working on several features to bring the web to VR. They’ve recently added an experimental flag at chrome://flags/#enable-vr-shell to enable a browser shell for VR. This allows users to browse the web while using Cardboard or Daydream-ready viewers.

They’ve also been working towards WebVR1 support in Chromium and launched VR view2 to help web developers embed VR content in their web pages. The team is just getting started on making the web work well for VR so stay tuned, there’s more to come!
