Virtual Production at HPA 2024!
HPA is wrapped for me!
It was my first HPA and a whirlwind of a conference for me, supporting 3 awesome booths, fun networking and the most important to me, was all the great one-on-one conversations, both about professional and personal.
I wanted to give a quick re-cap on the things I was involved with at HPA, and share what I was demonstrating, for those who couldn't make the show.
I had the honor of supporting three booths this year, all three rocking Silverdraft Computers, ASSIMILATE Live FX Media Server and Light Sail VR Content, for various use-cases.
Here is the video from my presentation at the Planar Booth:
Studio B&H Booth
The The Studio-B&H Booth was showing off the new Phantom Track feature from Red Camera for Virtual Production.
Other Partners at the booth included:
ROE Visual LED Panels.
ZEISS Cinematography Lenses.
Matrox Video 2110 Converter
Zeiss
ZEISS Cinematography was showing off their new Nano Primes and CinCraft Scenario Camera tracking.
I'm very impressed with how fast they are implementing new cameras and lenses, and revolutionizing and simplifying the entire lens calibration. Definitely keep your eyes out for this tracking system!
The booth was utilizing Green Screen keying
Planar
Planar gave me a stage to present my content and demonstrations (as well as TOO many tacos and donuts :)
Here we were demonstrating my recent project Virtual Production City, which is an executable standalone program that when combined with ASSIMILATE Live FX, allows you to have an animated city scene from Unreal Engine and do full on virtual production.
With both programs closed, to fully up and running takes about 20 seconds! It accidentally ran for 36 hours straight through the night without crashing so it's very stable as well.
The other partners at the booth:
ZEISS Cinematography provided the beautiful Supreme Prime Lens
Quasar Science Provided the amazing Image-Based Lighting array
Meta Camera provided the camera I shot the video plates with.
