Virtual Presentation Tips

Virtual Presentation Tips

Combining in-class interaction with online learning methodologies set me in motion to deal with the complete disruption from this pandemic

One difficult part of the transition is keeping high energy during these online classes and ensuring  these virtual presentations and team meetings are efficient.

While we work on the hologram technology, here are some helpful suggestions that has improved my productivity and my virtual presentation skills. Also, attached is a one-pager to share with your team members who are adjusting to this transition.

Before the presentation

·        Create an outline for your presentation to give your audience an idea of what to expect

·        Design your presentation using graphics and pictures to aid clarity, attempt to use bold, spacious font types with a minimum size of 16 to keep it simple

·        Use writing apps to review and correct grammar errors in your presentation

·        Choose a good location to ensure you have proper lighting and neutral background

·        Practice voice modulation to stress key points, tape it and listen for yourself

During the presentation

·        Even though your audience cannot see you, standing helps you focus and project your voice

·        Look into your camera, not the screen and wear clothing that is neutral in color

·        Start with an ice breaker question or picture and ask everyone their thoughts

·        Encourage conversations and pause for emphasis

·        Be clear, efficient, and focus on important points first

·        Consider having two or three presenters to aid the blend in voice modulation

·        Keep total presentation time to a maximum of 20minutes

After the presentation

·        Summarize your key points in one slide

·        Leave time to ask engaging questions

·        Thank the audience

·        Offer to share a copy of your presentation
