Virginia DCJS and ALERRT: Threat Mitigation Partnership With Our Virginia Stakeholders (Bristol & Wytheville)

One of the most worthwhile efforts within public safety/emergency management is investing in others...so as to become more resilient in their individual safety and preparedness. As active attacks have now become part of our American culture, we continue to see the enormous value in educating our civilians (Immediate Responders). Doing so, directly empowers them to not become a victim.

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, Division of Law Enforcement, Active Shooter Training cadre recently completed four (4) ALERRT Civilian Response Casualty Care (CRCC) deliveries to our colleagues in the City of Bristol, Wytheville Community College and the surrounding SWVA region. This is how the Commonwealth is steadily building prepared, integrated communities; providing our residents with nationally recognized resources.

It is critical to understand that these incidents simply cannot be contained with standard security measures only...assigning educational awareness to mitigation/preparedness for our Virginia stakeholders is the primary course of action that lessens the impact of these events. Knowledge & competency are powerful allies during a critical incident.
