Virginia Credit Union (VACU) is excited to announce two recent awards presented to the credit union in recognition of our financial education and community engagement work.
Mastercard?, the payments and technology giant, has recognized VACU with its Doing Well By Doing Good Award for the credit union’s inaugural Financial Success for Women Summit, which provided financial education resources and money management training for 250 women. Chesterfield County Public Schools awarded VACU its Going the Extra Mile Award for helping to prepare students for careers outside of the classroom.
“Our employees and our organization are deeply committed to the success of the communities we serve, and an important way we demonstrate our commitment is through volunteerism, charitable giving, financial education, and through programs and initiatives that support the good work of our partner organizations,” said VACU President/CEO Chris Shockley.
In Mastercard’s announcement, Fred Grigsby of Mastercard’s Community Institutions Division applauded VACU for a “well-deserved honor reflective of all the hard work your institution has put into promoting community service, philanthropy, and charitable contributions. This award is an impressive testament to your organization’s commitment to making a difference and doing well by doing good in the communities you serve.”

VACU has conducted 64 K-12 presentations in Chesterfield County schools in 2024, including at the county’s juvenile detention centers. Those presentations reached 2,597 students.
