Sir Richard Branson says "some of the best entrepreneurs are sitting in prisons".
Daily Star, Saturday, September 29th, 2018
The virgin boss, 68, said he had hired "a lot of ex offenders" over the past 5 years - and it was "good for society". But he claimed "wasted talent" in jails could be found sooner if schools changed their approach to excluding pupils......
So if Sir Richard Branson can see it - Why can't others ? Young school teachers who are new to teaching and take their own problems into work who tell students "you'll never amount to anything" are in the wrong job and I see it all the time......They talk to the kids like shit and cause a lot of the anger..........So..................Who monitors the monitors....???? to stop it continuing....I should add also there are some fantastic teachers who actually care about the students they teach and are just as frustrated at the lack of expenditure on future education...
He revealed Virgin took on "as many people as we can from prison". Sir Richard added "And I think if you give people the decency of work and if you give them a second chance, they won't re-offend".
Sir Richard Branson is a self made billionaire and can recognise himself in the young who are waiting to bloom...
And that brings me to "The Koestler Awards". The Koestler Awards are an exhibition of some of the most fantastic works of arts and crafts you'll ever see by people deemed talent-less and unfit for society... Prisoners/Inmates/Lags/Convicts/Scum and the list continues....... Most don't realise the skills and hidden talents they possess until they get banged up.......But I have an opinion for opinionated people with no experience..........."Let him without sin cast the first stone".
To continue......Matchstick models are commonplace with windmills and caravans amongst the most popular or covering tobacco tins etc, but you need evening classes for most, imagine you're banged up with others will mean stress leading to arguments and agg and then you have to rely on staff turning up ? and you gotta have a substantial length of sentence in a closed prison but you have more access in an open one........
Just voicing my opinion...........

5 年Thanks for the thumbs up to my article Lesley... It's just a frustrated opinion based on fact... I'm not a writer but talking to myself and writing it as I see it could be classed as losing it ?? too many drugs and too much alcohol and a criminal history is enough to send anyone off the rails.... I honestly don't think 'The System' really wants the best for those of us who fail.... Early Intervention has to be the answer and experience of lives lived has to be an integral part of education 'Mentoring' is pointless without people who can relate..or at least believe in what your doing Yet people do it because it's a job they 'Think' they have a flare for.. Sorry Lesley I'm rattling on coz I'm sitting watching snooker so relaxed and talking to my phone (texting) but it's like being back behind the door and thinking about lost hope... It's very therapeutic for me I just keep going and as I've done the work knowing others in the community as well as those with criminal histories can work together to help our younger selves not become us ?? I hope you can put some visuals to some of Laces ideas and see what we're trying to do I'm only old on the outside ??
