The Viral Framework System

The Viral Framework System

Proven principles to get more likes, comments, and shares on your content.

Estimated Reading Time: (5-7 minutes)

I tend to speak with a lot of entrepreneurs every week.

Most of them don't have a lot of experience in the content marketing game.

Because of that…

I always receive the same old question.

“How do I go viral?”

And to be honest, there’s no easy answer.

It's ultimately a combination of:

  • Trial and error
  • The right timing
  • Following the data
  • Excellence & consistency
  • And a little bit of luck...

But that doesn't stop me from launching a viral post almost every week.

While most of them are not winners…

I'm constantly studying my content to learn and improve.

In fact, every week…

I perform an in-depth breakdown of my top-performing content from the past 7 days.

I perform a common factor analysis:

Analyze the hook, the body, the closing line, the format, the topic, etc.

Every piece of data helps me understand WHY this post worked better than the other.

This allows me to double down on the winners…

And increase my odds for success.

Today I was performing one of those sessions…

And I wanted to share my secret process with my audience.

I call it?The Viral Framework System

In this article, I will:

  • Give you some tangible examples for reference.
  • Share my unique way of measuring performance.
  • Share the exact framework I use when crafting content pieces.

That being said, let's dive in:

Warning:?This is a very long framework, I recommend sitting down, getting rid of all distractions, and fully focusing on understanding the key principles of what makes the viral framework system.

I’m giving all of this information for free…

So you don't need to pay thousands of dollars for coaching, courses, or digital products.

The science behind viral content

Viral content has less to do with how "perfect" it is...

And more to do with how "shareable" it is.

Ultimately content goes viral because people start talking about and sharing it with their circles.

Want to create viral content?

Focus on creating shareable content.

I use Matt Grays' STEPPS framework to craft content.

Here's a quick breakdown for you...

1. Social Currency

People want to be perceived as being cool, smart, and in the know.

Create content that makes your audience look good and they will share it.

2. Triggers

Weave memorable themes into your content that cause people to think of you via association.?

You can also leverage triggers by mentioning concepts that people have pre-existing associations with.

3. Emotion

Try to arouse the emotions of your audience as much as possible.?Emotional content frequently goes viral.

4. Public

People want to feel like they are part of something bigger than themselves. Create content that gives people a sense of connection.

5. Practical Value

Useful things get shared. Create informative and digestible content that is easy to pass along.

6. Stories

Bring your content to life by including stories that carry the idea for you.

Now that we’ve covered the viral framework, let’s get into some examples.

My Threads Account

I posted this a couple of weeks ago?and it’s gotten nearly 1200 likes.

Why?

Why did this post go crazy and the others did not?

Let's analyze it using the STEPPS components:

Social Currency:

There's a lot of incentive to share this because people who do are perceived as “looking out” for their friends by giving them unique insight they might not have had before

Triggers:

“12 ways to stay poor” is a short and impactful hook that clearly shows that the list will be about 12 things not to do.

Emotion:

This post directly calls out a feeling?(fear of loss)?and also makes a divisive statement that evokes a strong “agree” or “no way” from the audience.

This post also references going bankrupt, and many people have strong emotions about this concept.

Public

In this post I’m revealing some of my own personal points of view on society and success, making people feel both extremely curious as well as connected to me.

Practical value:

I share 12 ways to stay poor.

People can avoid a lot of pain and accelerate their success by avoiding these pitfalls.

Stories:

This is the point my post lacks the most.

There is no real story being told in the post.

The Repurposing System

As you’ve seen - insightful, list-style breakdowns resonate extremely well with my audience.

While I also post shorter or more narrative-driven content…

I always ensure that I’m including these list-style posts multiple times a week.

Ultimately, you’ll have to try things out and see what works best.

But once you start seeing some trends, don’t be afraid to double down on that.

Well — Enough theory.

Let's go on how you actually use this research:

Step 1: 90-Day Backlog

If you follow the roadmap series...

You should have this developed already.

But if you are new...

This is the easiest and fastest way to build it.

  • Go to your account.
  • Grab every single post.
  • Store them on your “safe” drive.
  • Filter them by performance.

Step 2: Avg. Post Metrics.

Now is the time to understand your avg. metrics.

You care about 2 things:

  • Avg. Likes
  • Avg. Comments.

You may be asking yourself…

How do I get the average?

Very simple.

You posted 1500 posts in your lifetime.

You add up all the likes and divide it by the # of posts.

That is your Avg. Likes.

Do the same for comments.

Step 3: The Great Value Filter.

Once you know your avg.

Every post that is...

Above avg. → Bucket A

Below avg. → Bucket B

Bucket A → 90-Day Backlog.

Bucket B → Discard.

This is to increase the quality of your library.

You need to raise the bar and say:

“I won't fall for mediocracy

“I will only post the best stuff out there”

“I won't tolerate anything but excellence”

Step 4: Common Factor Analysis

You already know…

How to analyze a post to understand why it worked.

The problem is…

This only works on the psychological level.

It shows you WHAT you need to include.

Now we are going to discuss the HOW.

AKA: The technical stuff.

Focus your analysis on 4 things.

  • The hook.
  • The format.
  • The post topic.
  • The closure line.

Step 5: The "Repurposing" Phase.

Now is the time to change it up.

What can you improve?

Your common factor analysis, done in step 1…

Should be enough for you to understand what your audience likes.

Just look for stuff that repeats itself over and over.

Step 6: Go Viral Every-Single-Time.

Sooner or later...

You will have a library of content that simply murders every time you post.

On top of that...

The performance of your stuff compounds with each improvement cycle.

This is how you win.
