I would like to talk about #Vintage Value- Puzzled......
Let me elaborate it, after that I strongly believe, few of you may agree with the Caption or share your own experience.
Have you seen few people (not all) who spend decades or more than that in one company & bully fresher’s / young blood, newly joined or Juniors. They bark openly & show their supremacy/ seniority over youngsters. In short, they show off their Vintage value & top management keep silence sometimes as they like to keep boot- lickers around them or they value the years of experience over office decorum & this young fellow (bullied one) is struggling between learning new tasks, assignments, focusing on career objectives, balancing personal & professional life & ignoring disturbing elements/ tolerating non-sense.
Yes, I am talking about Workplace Bullying.
My dear friends (Vintage showoff types), we respect your decade of experience & exposure. But we are young generation, we work because we choose it, we worked on our dreams long time back to land on this path & we believe in continuous learning & growing. We Know, Success is a journey not a destination. It require constant effort, Vigilance & reevaluation. We are not scared of challenges, we take risks (Calculated or not so calculated sometimes). we dare to go out of comfort zone & feel easy in diversity.
Most of us are in corporate or any field to fulfill our own dream. My presence is here is not an accident, it’s a choice, it’s a dream/ desired/ planned/ manifested journey.
So, Say big “No” to bullying, raise a voice, talk to HR Department/ Top management, highlight the issue & teach such seniors/ staff to mind their own business, not to put nose in others Job. Tell them to keep the typical behavior at home & show professional behavior, cultivate organisation behavior/ etiquette's.
People who show off their vintage value at work place need to know, that they are the one who are afraid to take risk in Life. Because it’s not easy to move from one place to another place & start life again from scratch, they are afraid to go out of comfort zone, not so adaptable. Unaware that world exists outside their current place. Few people exist with a mindset that this is the only world/organisation, which is dangerous. You may master of one but current era is of Jack of all trades, master of none too.
It’s not easy to dare to dream, discover, explore & achieve… it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. So respect that daring attitude. It require competencies to compete & stay firm in tough competition. So who bully newcomers need to change their attitude towards life & others, need to welcome newcomers who have secured a place. Delegate your responsibilities, share knowledge or just keep Calm. You have no idea what people are dealing with in their personal lives, So just be nice, It's that Simple.
The corporate world works on people efficiency & effectiveness, your “Chamchagiri” formula will not help you in long run. Management use human as assets to generate its revenues & growth. So we all are a tool to accomplish company’s Goal.
"As management definition itself defines- Management is the Art of getting things done through others" - Mary Parker Folett
You must have witnessed people getting fired/ redundant instantly after serving company for ages. I have worked in gulf & as I am keen observer, I observed… people joined company in their 20’s & now in the same company they got grey hair (40's or 50's). There may be many reasons, no comment on that. But sad part of serving so long is- you become NRI (not required Indian) from NRI (non-residential Indian). I know at least a dozen professionals personally who got notice suddenly without any reason & they had no Choice. Who gave so much to the organisation but kicked out in seconds. So don't take your designation for granted. Today it is yours, tomorrow it will belong to someone else.
"Don’t underestimate me,
I know more than I say,
think more than I speak &
notice more than you realize"
We youngsters are wise enough to not get attached with the place of work or emotional at work. We work passionately but we know to keep our head above our shoulders. Switching from one job to another after a certain period of time doesn't mean you are not a loyal person. It can't raise question on your loyalty with your employer.
It means, you want to add value to your professional journey, adequate to learn new skills, eager to have diverse experience or exposure. You want to invest your early phase of professional life in learning through experience & diverse exposure & then earning or it go parallel (equal weightage). World is too big & It's the time of globalization.
"Love your job but don’t love your Company, because you may not know when your company will stop loving you" - Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
In brief: Welcome newcomers/Juniors in your organisation without being judgmental with open arms in spite of behaving like a Jerk/ Nasty human being. That positive attitude of your's makes you senior & justify your vintage value in the eye of newcomers & the whole organisation. Because "Z Generation" is not going to respect you by seeing your age/ grey hair on your head, or the number of years you spend on doing similar things in the same organisation. they simply believe in "Tit for Tat", Give respect & take respect. It's easier to be nice than to be mean.
I don't Care
If you're black, white, short, tall, skinny, rich or poor. If you respect me I'll respect you!
