Vinfast's hiring Power Electronic Engineer (Expert level is required)

Dear valuable/potential candidates,

To make the electric car dream come true, we are looking for talented candidates for the following position: Power Electronic Engineer (Expert level is required)

Job Description:

+ As a power electronics engineer, you design and test circuits to use in power electronics systems.

+ Develop prototypes, find solutions for known flaws in mechanical designs, and collaborate with other engineers to perform cross-functional tasks when testing designs.

+ Research, design and make the proposal and the optimized topology for Power Converters in Electric Vehicle to maximize efficiency, performance and minimize size and cost.

+ Works on power electronic designs (schematics), component sizing and theoretical analysis to study the worst cases scenarios and thus take into account all the potential stress experienced by the components (stress tests)

+ Validate concepts by design calculations and simulations.

+ Conduct technical analysis to validate designs, including but not limited to: trade studies, product design, system/component integration, mathematical modeling, reliability analysis, and development.

+ Design magnetic components and guide vendor to manufacture said components.

+ Bus bar design and manufacturing which includes selection of DC Film Capacitor, IGBT/SiC MOSFETs module, AC/DC current density analysis, 3D Modeling and FEA simulations and insulation material selection.

+ Design of heatsinks and cooling methods for Power Converters

+ Perform detailed circuit analysis to verify design compliance to specific performance targets. Analysis to include computer-aided modeling and the generation of schematics.

+ Prepare and review technical reports/documentation necessary to satisfy customer, internal, and program requirements, including specifications, design documents, test plans/procedures, reports, correspondence, etc.

+ Layout PCB or work with PCB layout engineer to create PCB designs with high level of power and signal integrity and low EMI.

+ Board bring up, optimization and comprehensive testing of power electronic designs.

+ Take designs through regulatory approvals for EMI and safety.

+ Create and execute reliability test plans.

+ Perform safety-oriented analyses such as component stress analysis, DFMEA and HARA.

+ Cross functional work with Hardware, Software, Mechanical, Thermal engineers while developing and testing the prototypes and end products.

+ Manage electronic components and working equipment related to hardware.

+ Offers solution architectures to meet the needs.

+ Solves problems with a thorough understanding of trade-offs in problem-solving to drive optimized designs.

+ Leads in capturing the voice of customer and development of product specifications. Translates customer needs to manufacturing requirements.

Essential Skills:

+ Having strong background in the topology of Power Electronic Converters, such as DC/DC converter, AC/DC converter, DC/AC converter, Switching Power supply...

+ In-depth background on power electric components, such as Power MOSFET, IGBT, Inductor, Capacitor, High-frequency transformer, etc.

+ Strong technical background in digital and analog circuit design, PCB design and testing, and must be knowledgeable in signal processing.

+ Analyze analog circuitry, work with high-frequency magnetics, and help estimate power losses and overall efficiency as electricity works its way through circuits.

+ Master CAD tools (e.g. Spice, Saber) and schematic tools (e.g. Cadence, Mentor).

+ Hands on experience in switched mode power supply design and development.

+ Deep understanding of AC-DC and DC-DC analog and digital control loops.

+ Experience in standard lab equipment such as power analyzer, oscilloscopes, functional generator, frequency response analyzer, etc.

+ Experience with digital design / code development for digital signal processor for controlling bi-directional power converters.

+ Capable of creating models, simulations, and analysis tools to solve engineering problems using PLECS, PSIM, MATLAB/SIMULINK, MathCad or similar engineering tools.

Desired Skills:

+ Be aware of the EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) standards and be familiar with the specifications of the electrical network that powers the card.

+ Experienced in debugging and solving power and EMI issues.

+ Strong familiarity with design, development and manufacturability of power converters.

+ Demonstrated experience with manufacturing standards and practices.

+ Familiarity with High Voltage system in the Electric Vehicle

+ Able to justify a professional experience in an embedded environment such as automotive, aeronautics, space, or military is a plus.

+ Candidates are required to have excellent communication and organization skills and be self-motivated and hardworking.

+ Ability to provide leadership to engineering design staff.

+ Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills.

Qualifications:

+ Above 5 years industry experience electronics power conversion product design and manufacturing; relevant research & product development in support of doctoral degree or post-doctoral research an option.

+ BSEE/MSEE or equivalent related experience. A Master’s or higher degree is preferred.
