This holiday season, Vilnius airport set out to make a bold statement with its holiday decor centrepiece- the Christmas Tree. Unlike the bejewelled, pine-scented botanical that travellers often look forward to during the holiday season, the one in Vilnius Airport is made of an assortment of confiscated objects over the years.??

Lighters, scissors, knives, and even bullets make for a 1.5m tall unconventional tree with a loud and clear message- Do not travel with prohibited items!??

A Vilnius Airport spokesperson said: "The items are prohibited to carry in hand luggage and were taken away from passengers during screening. Knives, scissors, lighters, blades, and all sorts of other dangerous goods."?

The peculiar tree is a remarkable visual reminder of all the things that travellers often carry with them despite vivid signs and instructions spread all over the airport premises.?

Vilnius airport is undoubtedly getting busier by the year, and as confirmed by Rokas Masiulis, Lithuania's Minister of Transport and Communications, a new mega airport may be on the cards for the future!?

"Lithuanian airports have been facing increasing passenger flows in recent years. If the trend is to continue, a new airport might be built in the country," he said.?
