Prime Minister launches “Viksit Bharat 2047” to spearhead development of educational institutions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched ‘Viksit Bharat @2047: Voice of Youth’ via video conferencing, addressing university vice-chancellors, heads of institutes and faculty members at workshops across the country. The Prime Minister emphasised that India is currently in a crucial period, where the nation has the opportunity to make significant strides in its development. Drawing inspiration from other countries that experienced rapid development, he stressed that this is the opportune moment for India to take a quantum leap.


Enrollment in Higher Education Institutions increases by 9 million since 2014

The number of Indian students pursuing higher education has increased by 9 million, with a total enrollment reaching 40 million students as per the Ministry of Education. Compared to 2014, there has been an increase of 31.6 percent in the number of girl students studying presently. The highest enrollment in higher education is seen in states like Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan which have excelled in the education sector.


Rajya Sabha passes Central Universities (Amendment) Bill 2023 to set up Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University

The University will be set up at Mulugu in the State of Telangana at a cost of Rs. 889.07 crore. The University will have 5 schools and 11 departments, and will offer graduate, post-graduate and doctoral level courses. The university will educate a total of 2790 students over its first seven years of operation.


Badruka Educational Society launches the Badruka School of Management (BSM) in Hyderabad

The Badruka Educational Society launched its new-age management school in Hyderabad on Thursday. The Badruka School of Management is a 14-acre campus with a multidisciplinary curriculum which merges core management principles and modules tailored to emerging industry demands. They offer a varied pool of in-demand courses including Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning and Sustainable Business.



AICTE removes cap on intake for well-performing engineering colleges

The cap on increasing the intake of students for well-performing engineering institutions has been removed by AICTE for 2024. This step was taken to balance the mismatch between demand and supply for these institutions. Approval shall now be granted by AICTE to these well-performing technical institutions every three years instead of every year, as it is currently done.
