Video Podcasting Is Here to Stay

It’s official: YouTube is America’s go-to podcast destination.
At least according to the latest research from Cumulus Media and Signal Hill.
It’s especially popular with younger male audiences and for news-based podcast genres.
Another insight caught my attention regarding video podcasts: according to Edison 79% of weekly podcast listeners in the U.S. have listened to a "video podcast".
Now, that doesn't mean they are always actively watching, it may still be on in the background.
But it does mean they opted for a video platform like YouTube to listen on.
It’s not about scrapping a podcast strategy and becoming a YouTube star, it’s about complementing your podcast with visuals. Your podcast at its heart should still be an audio-first medium, that listeners can tune into on the go. The beauty of podcasts is that everyone can fit it into their schedule where it suits them best: at the gym, on a commute, while tidying up - it fits into listeners’ lives with no hassle.
If that’s the case, why do you need to consider video podcasting?
A little step into video goes a long way with reach.?
The audience currently on YouTube is not necessarily the same audience hanging around Apple Podcasts and Spotify. That means there’s a massive potential listenership waiting for you.
At the moment, YouTube is also the second-largest search engine out there. Use your great content, and a little SEO, to get in front of a quality audience looking for the value you offer.
To get started, you don’t need to have a full film production. But, even if it is just a front camera recording of you podcasting, get it up there. It could bring so much growth to your podcast.
