Video Games Marketing Newsletter - August 2023 - Jakub Mamulski, Heaps Agency

Hey everyone!

Hope you’re doing well. There are a few things to address at the beginning of this newsletter. I got married earlier this month, so for understandable reasons, I wasn’t able to write the usual number of articles for my blog. So it’s only 3 entries for this one. I’ll drop a new article today and it’s gonna be included in next month’s newsletter, so keep an eye out for it.

The next thing is that I started a LinkedIn page for Heaps Agency (can't tag it for whatever reason). Make sure to follow if you’d like to find out more about video game marketing, and the company itself and would like to be up to date on all that jazz.

Now, that we have it all out of the way, let’s move on to the meat and bones of the newsletter - the articles posted on Heaps Agency’s blog!

Business Or Personal Account On TikTok For A Gaming Studio?

TikTok offers 2 basic account types – personal and business. Choosing the right one can be a hard nut to crack. This blog entry is meant to help you with choosing the right one for your gaming studio.

Why Are There So Many Remastered Games?

The last few years have seen a fair share of remasters and rereleases of games. To name just a few, Demon Souls (the launch title for PS5), neo-Persona trilogy (3, 4 and 5) or even Quake 2 have all re-entered the market and are (for the most part) available for a wide variety of gaming systems. Some more niche franchises also get remasters or even remakes, like in the case of Live-A-Live or Shining Resonance Refrain (we won’t talk about this one anymore). I currently play Nier: Automata on my Switch. So, why is this the case and why do companies really love pumping out older titles? Let’s find out in this article.

The Power Of Memes In Marketing

Balltze, better known as Cheems, died a few days ago. While it’s always sad when an animal dies, it’s probably the first time when one so strongly associated with memes (while it was alive) has passed away. We’re obviously not counting Harambe in, as he became a meme posthumously. This situation and the reaction of the internet community reminded me of how mighty memes can be in communications (and how they can also be misused) and I’d like to talk a bit about two huge reasons regarding that matter.

I hope these articles will all be bangers in your opinion. It’s all for this month. I’m wondering about starting an entertainment podcast in Polish, got some equipment for that purpose - throwing it in as a footnote, though. Make sure to follow Heaps Agency on LinkedIn and if you wanna hire me, hit me up at [email protected]

Cheers!
