How many video conferencing tools/platforms you have installed in your laptop, desktop, or mobile phone?
I have following tools installed on my laptop and mobile for joining video calls and webinars:
1.??????#msteams
2.??????#zoom
3.??????#webex
4.??????#Goto (for webinars)
5.??????#bluejeans
6.??????#Google Meet (most time on browser)
And in official setup, #Cisco VC Endpoints are also there to add in the above list.
In Indian context, before covid era, physical meetings were always preferred and used to happened without tools. But after Covid era, online or virtual meetings are new common thing in corporates or even in personal life. In personal life, apart from these meeting platforms, WhatsApp calling and FaceTime calls are also there.

So many tools to perform only one type of activity i.e. meetings!!
Why not there is Video Conferencing Interoperability (VCI)?
What is this Video Conferencing Interoperability?
Video conferencing interoperability is the ability for online meeting platforms to connect and communicate with each other without installing or using browser plugins for different platforms. That means if I have MS teams than I should be able to do video calls from MS Teams with my friend who have zoom or with my vendor having Google meet and they can also join my video calls using their respective VC platform (I.e. Zoom or Google meet) or better if we all three can join a single call from our respective tool or platform.?
Why should we require different tools or platform if we have any one of these!!!
IT majors started in this direction, MS Teams allow to have Webex tab within a team to schedule, view, join and cancel Webex meetings.
They should develop a common protocol similar to #SIP protocol to allow interoperability.
