More about the post-apocalyptic thriller ‘LOLA’
LOLA? is a post-apocalyptic thriller series centering around an unassuming grandmother with a deadly secret. An adaptation of director Kevin Ang’s award-winning short film “Lola”, which blended the traditional, Asian familial theme with the zombie thriller genre, the film has garnered acclaim from festivals and online viewers alike since its launch in 2014.

What is the inspiration for LOLA?
Kevin had always wanted to create a Filipino themed zombie film. Kevin and Adi talked about the possibility of creating a post-apocalyptic zombie film set in the Philippines with a Christmas flavor as it was during the Christmas season when they brainstormed for the film.?
Family is and will always be a big concept for many Filipinos so it came naturally to blend in all of those elements into the short film.
Aspirations for LOLA
Kevin would love to extend the short film into a limited series. While there are plenty of zombie series, there hasn’t been one that is specifically Filipino-themed with a dark tone implemented. He’d love to explore deeper into this family themed exploration with the horror lens- and given the rich potential found in the lush Filipino landscape.
Adi looks forward to expanding characters and developing deeper (and darker) internal and external conflicts. Mostly, He is very eager to contribute our own take on the zombie apocalypse outbreak which we hadn’t really explored in the original version.
When sharing their experience on the project,”We loved collaborating with Viddsee- they've been great partners at exploring the possibilities with our stories. I'm excited at what we may be able to do together”.
