Victory Over Suicide
“I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.” —Psalm 118:17 (NIV)
Invocation
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,
the Lamb of God who stands at the right hand of the Father,
I offer my prayers, petitions, and requests through Him—
Jesus Christ, our advocate with the Father—
before the Three who bear witness in heaven:
the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Prayer
The Eternal God who knows all things,
I pray against any thoughts of ending
my life through suicide
due to emotional and mental challenges,
chemical imbalances, feelings of worthlessness,
rejections from friends and family,
hopelessness, incurable sickness,
fear of losing all I have worked for,
fear of sudden illness and death, and
spiritual attacks from enemies. Amen.
My defense and strong tower,
I pray that you stop Satan and his agents
from whispering in my ears to assist friends,
family members, strangers, or colleagues
who are planning their own death by suicide.
Father God, the preserver of life,
if in the past a close relative,
friend, coworker, or neighbor
secretly or accidentally took their own life,
Lord, do not let their actions cause
me to contemplate taking my own life. Amen.
Lord, I beseech you today,
do not let the spirit of suicide
manipulate me into accessing or
reading materials that teach people how
to end their own lives.
Gracious Lord, control the thoughts,
actions, and decisions of trusted friends,
relatives, and colleagues, so that in their time
of weakness, the spirit of suicide
will not use them as vessels or tools
to manipulate me into making any decision
that will lead to my own death. Amen.
Gracious and loving God,
I beseech you today and always,
that in the name of your only begotten Son,
who gave his life as a ransom for my sins,
you deliver and set me free from
spiritual strongholds, demonic possessions,
principalities, powers, manipulating spirits,
harmful thoughts, doctrines, occult practices,
suicidal covenants, and spiritual practices
that are holding me captive against my will. Amen.
Father God, I know that Jesus Christ
died for my emotional and mental illnesses,
including suicidal thoughts, depression,
bipolar disorder, sadness, confusion,
hatred towards others, aggression, violence,
psychiatric behavior, and tendencies;
thoughts of hurting others and myself.
By the power of the Eternal God who
brought Jesus Christ back from the dead,
I declare and receive my healing. Amen.
God, the healer of the hurt and wounded,
I know that you created all good things
for me to live a happy and healthy life,
and that you gave medical professionals
the wisdom, talents, and knowledge to assist
anyone dealing with emotional and mental illness.
I pray that you give me the discipline
and wisdom to listen to their counsel
and guidance regarding my emotional,
psychological, and mental well-being. Amen.
Spirit of the Living God,
I know that my God has healed me
from both emotional and mental sickness;
as I wait for the manifestation of that healing,
give me the strength and courage
to seek help from a God-fearing
psychotherapist, licensed counselor,
or government-approved health professional
for my uncontrollable suicidal thoughts,
helplessness, feelings of worthlessness,
insecurity, sorrow, fear, grief from loss,
bitterness, and unforgiveness. Amen.
Witness
Eternal God, may heaven, earth, and all the heavenly hosts
bear witness against any power, demon, accuser,
or the Father of Lies who would oppose my
prayers, petitions, or requests made in the name of Jesus Christ.
Benediction
May the Lord extend His mercy toward me,
and may I abound and grow in His love.
May Your tender mercy take root in my heart,
and may Your grace keep me blameless before You.
May the Holy Spirit take control of my mind,
and present me faultless before my Maker.
May Christ’s sacrifice preserve my soul,
and may His resurrection from the grave give me life.
May Your loving-kindness take root in me,
and may Christ’s amazing grace set me free from
bondage, guilt, shame, loneliness, and fear.
Let me live according to the number of years
that You appointed for me before I was born. Amen.
