Victory at Last

Two weeks ago, I got hired at Clarkdale Volkswagen.

Three weeks ago I was taking Paul Iacobazzi's course that he offers through his business, The Auto Trainer.

I’m writing this article for people who have seen Paul’s ad but who would like an outside perspective on what he offers.

Having made the plunge, I can now share my experience.

My Experience

I moved to Vancouver in September, after holding some contract jobs I turned to making a solid career move; anything that would serve as a strong stepping stone, hold meaning, or lead me somewhere good. I was really surprised at the lack of response I found in return.

I saw Paul’s ad many times, but not being particularly attracted to the car industry, I always passed on it. At some point, while feeling extremely frustrated and let down, I decided to apply. Thinking it was a job offer, I wasn’t happy when I realized he was offering a course. I went in to meet him anyway and something impressed me about Paul. Maybe it was his calm and positive energy, or his notion that car sales is changing; maybe a part of me believed his claim that he could get me a solid job in car sales and that he has an astounding success rate greater than 85%. So I emailed back and forth with Paul. My gut had a good feeling about him and a part of me really wanted to see where this could go.

Well, of course you know I decided to take his course, but here’s what I learned about Paul. As far as I can tell, yes, he has been in the Auto Industry for 27 years and as a manager for some 22 years. Yes, I did some investigative work, I visited three dealerships with questions about Paul and his course, and yes, they know of him and they actively had hires from him. Everyone said good things about him. Here’s the more personal part, though. I think Paul is in a place where he wants to give and help others. Paul is helping people enter a career he knows is gratifying and has great potential. He’s in a unique position; with a rich book of contacts, he has placed himself between dealerships and unrecognized talent. He wants to help raise the bar of the salesforce in the auto industry. He wants to help people step up their professionalism. He wants to offer what he found: a good industry with great opportunity.

Findings

So here are a few key findings:

Paul is successfully providing opportunities to the vast majority of people who come to him.

Paul believes selling cars is all about exceptional customer service, human connection, and professionalism.

Paul is motivated because he wants to give to others what he has found.

To anyone out there who doesn’t know what to think about Paul’s course, I hope this adds some confidence and clarity to the situation. I know that when I was unsure, I would have appreciated a third person review. I hope it helps.
