Victors' Creative Journey EP 3

It’s a Monday morning and as the tradition that someone somewhere with a lot of time on their hands decided, It’s time for #mondaymotivations .

In the following weeks, I have decided to make weekly posts of my creative journey; from how it all started, to where I am currently .

Victor’s Creative Journey EP 3

Let’s talk about my reading abilities shall we?

Similar to my colleagues in the music industry, my ability to read and understand a #script originated from my experience in church.

You see, I was born and brought up in the Catholic church and have always been fascinated by the way “good” Lectors (the group that primarily read the scriptures in the Catholic church), put themselves in the #mood of the lines their about to read before even going up for the task. Take for example, you would see them looking joyful when it’s time fore Christmas, and when it’s time for Lent, their mood would mirror the exact #message they are trying to portray.

This fascination for a long time made me often fantasize about one day also contributing my voice to the fluck of the Lord. But sadly, this just remained that, a fantacy. Why? I was blind, introverted and quite self-conscious with a self esteem level the size of a mustard seed. This was the case until in 2014 when I made acquaintance with one of the “good” lectors I spoke about.

Jude was around my age. Charismatic, friendly, down to earth but a bit prideful some of the time. On one of the days when his “down to earth” side was out and about, I approached him and had conversations with him and from that conversation, I realised Lectors were just normal people just like me. To hasten my little story along, I spoke to him about joining, went through a 6-month training, and before I knew it, I was chilling with the big boys in front of the church.

Eight years down the line, I have advanced from not only reading scriptures in church, but reading #voiceoverscripts for #adverts #jingles #audiodrama #poetry and even movie prologues… Not professionally though, but moving on.

I am still a work in progress and I believe soon, I would be doing #voiceovers for major cartoon companies.

What fear have you had to overcome? Feel free to share in the comment section.
