Vice President of Sales Announcement

When I joined this industry back in 2008, my time was spent making calls and networking at every event imaginable. I would exchange as many business cards as possible and was committed to following up the same day with a unique and personal note. It always amazed me how many Chief Executive Officers would show up for even the smallest event around the beltway. I’ve since developed very distinct opinions on the pros and cons of inflated titles. For certain individuals they ensure proper alignment and access. For others, they are a distraction which leads to arrogance, ego, and other hindrances that get in the way of business.

My goal here at Blackwood has always been to perpetuate a culture centered on being approachable and authentic, so our titles are intentionally conservative, and I have been reluctant to change. With growth comes a broader obligation to operationalize our core values and ensure that our team continues to define what partnership means to our client and technology partners. This has created a need to formally establish an executive team starting with the leaders who most commonly interface with industry - our sales divisions.

Those of you who work with Brett and Sohale know that they are the types of leaders that our industry needs and that I admire. They get it done (Consistent CAGR in excess of 50%), do it right (Showcasing our core values in every action), and enjoy the process (by getting along similar to Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in the second half of Stepbrothers). They have done a fine job building our brand in the market and it is with great pleasure that I formally announce their addition to the Blackwood Executive Team as the Vice President of Federal Sales, and Vice President of Commercial sales.
