Vice President Kamala Harris: Not the ‘DEI President’

The news is finally here: Kamala Harris is the Democratic Party’s presumed nominee for the 2024 Presidential race. Among her many accomplishments, from serving as a U.S. Senator to being the Vice President, she is also now the candidate to receive the most donations in a 24 hour period. The people have spoken: We want more choice than two old white guys.
This isn’t to say her campaign announcement hasn’t been met with pushback. Some have gone on to say that Kamala is the “DEI Presidential Candidate.” Well I’m here to set the record straight: Kamala will not be the DEI President. If elected, Kamala Harris would be the first Asian-American president and second African-American president, but that’s only part of the story.?
We know what’s meant when DEI is used as a description to degrade anyone, let alone a Presidential candidate. It is a racist call to action, implying that a person doesn’t deserve their position based on their race. These attacks from MAGA Republicans reaffirms their true commitment to white supremacy and their clear feelings of being threatened by a younger and more appealing candidate who will stand up to Trump.? All we have to do is look at their resumes to see who is not qualified for the position they are applying for.??

The only reason why this is a conversation is because our culture gives so much credit to straight white men from the starting bell.? While Kamala has a long way to go, I am here to endorse and support her candidacy for President. In the brief beginning of her Presidential run, she has already stoked unity. Her candidacy gives me, and others, hope for the future.
