You got a machine that is vibrating!!!. What could be causing it?

Start with the basics. Look at the mounting of the machine and fix it

  • The mounting to the ground could be loose from a loose nut or broken bolt.
  • Damping mechanisms like springs, rubber mounting, and absorption layers could be damaged or worn off

If it still vibrates, the reason could be one or a combination of the following reasons.

  • Static imbalance (force)
  • dynamic imbalance (force couple)
  • A misalignment.
  • Shaft crack
  • Bent shaft (Sagging or hogging)
  • Bearing wear

How to know which combination is causing the issue can be quickly identified by conducting a vibration analysis and thermography.
