About this Event
In this fully remote three-day event, top experts with backgrounds from Google, TikTok, TrueCar, Virgin Orbit, IBM, Zencastr, The White House, Amazon, TopCoder, Jump Investors, and the Fall In community will come together to support our military veterans. Teams of approximately 1 - 4 people will be formed with a variety of skills.
The goal of this hackathon is to work on fixing issues around the VA and enhance the overall military veteran population.
The best ideas for this Hackathon are to automate work to reduce the backlog of claims that cause hardships for our heroes.
Examples:
Improve the process for applying for benefits to help veterans get back to work. Improve efficiency and quality of work of VA and contractor staff.
Build a better review process, fast and easy for claims to go through thereby lowering the number of people who need help after they leave the military
Veterans claiming benefits, reviewing claims for accuracy? Let's build a system to automatically verify and speed up the process.
You’re a part of the solution. you care about the military and healthcare, so get involved in this hackathon and help veterans while doing your own thing.
The vets can participate with an idea for a personal project, startup, be given a topic from our list, or just sit in to audit/participate for educational purposes – coding skills are not required to participate.
Registered participants are given two minutes to pitch an app concept/prototype to a tech audience on day three. Attending veterans, engineers, designers, marketing, and business people as well as our team of glorious mentors select the best ideas that developed into applications at the close of our Hackathon.
What to expect:
Expect to find complimentary skills that help you to connect in the tech community. Be open, share your ideas, and don’t hold back – “Ideas without actions are useless”
Expect to meet super talented and inspiring people, to work under time pressure, and to dedicate the whole weekend to coding!
Expect to gain valuable feedback and insight not only from your teammates but also from other participants and the all-star panel of Judges.

I like helping people where I can. I am considered a good listener, an idea man, and an excellent advisor. I am a survivor of AML, and always willing to listen, encourage, and offer help to those battling cancer.
4 年Cool event. I love DEF CON events. The challenge of writing code to discover vulnerabilities is useful. I hope the event goes well for you.
