A Vet's Career Hunt-Week 6:

A Vet's Career Hunt-Week 6:

It feels like the most productive week yet, but I'm struggling to define productive job hunting. Real interviews and positive, energizing networking.

$10K Work:

  • 3rd interview with an exciting company.
  • 2nd interview with a company with a compelling story and focus on leadership that is really compelling
  • Referred to an outstanding opportunity

$1K Work:

  • Weekly connection with a career coach. If you don't have one, find one.
  • I didn't throw up during my spin classes.
  • Provided some insight and guidance to other Vets on the job hunt.
  • Mentoring/Networking calls. Three really good ones this week.

$100 Work:

  • Connected with 15 people on LinkedIn

$10 work:

  • Attended 2 virtual career fairs
  • Further prepped my plan 'B' with an interview for a substitute paraprofessional position. I feel good about not needing it.

Mindset Check:

  • Spin/tabata has really helped my focus and mood. Duh...
  • It feels like I'm getting close, but how can you tell?

$10K work for next week:

  • 2 screening interviews
  • Commit Foundation workshop in California

Love the points on quality networking and brand/marketing. An internal referral is more likely to get you a job than any ATS focused resume.

I read a story recently about a minor league pitcher and his approach to career. I think this will be helpful as you navigate your next journey. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2023/09/dave-eggers-comebacker-short-story/674771/

What about alignment? Like personally alignment with what you want next in your career? Everything else is futile without that.
