Why You Should Do More than Wave a Flag To Honor Women Veterans This Year
Do you know that 74% of service women and women veterans don’t believe their service is recognized and valued by the general public? They long for you to know about their leadership and contributions, their stories and experiences, and the challenges they face.
Tomorrow, November 11, 2021, is Veterans Day…a day to honor American veterans who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Here on social media, we’ll see our feeds flooded with flags and pictures of American veterans in uniform.
What if this year we could do something more than wave a flag to support the brave women who have served and are serving??@TheLeadershipCompanion , we are all about encouraging women to walk their talk by taking action. In honor of #VeteransDay, this means we want to challenge you to join us by taking action and donating to a Veteran’s organization that is making a difference in the lives of women who serve and have served this great country.
Here are some organizations where your money will make a difference:
??@Academywomen. From their LinkedIn page: ACADEMYWOMEN is a global leadership and professional development organization that empowers aspiring, current and past women military leaders through mentoring, training, and growth opportunities to impact positive change locally, nationally and globally. This mission is achieved by serving a broader community of all military women, families, and veterans. For every gift given, 94% directly funds programs that benefit current, former and future military women. #womenveterans?@Susan?Feland Here’s the link to their donation page:?Donate
??@grace?after fire. From their LinkedIn page: We commit to assisting in women veterans transition back into family life, achievements in the work place, and their pursuit of happiness. $20 covers the costs of services and resources a woman Veteran receives at a single Table Talk peer-to-peer support session. #graceafterfire?@Mea?Williams Here’s the link to their donation page:?https://secure.givelively.org/donate/grace-after-fire

? @U.S. Army Women’s Foundation. From their LinkedIn page: The U.S. Army Women’s Foundation is the premier organization for today’s Army women and veterans, a strong partner for their continued success, and a dynamic advocate for telling their stories. Their programs include a U.S. Army Women's Foundation Leadership Development Forum. #goarmy?@Anne?Macdonald Here’s the link to their donation page:?https://awfdn.square.site/
My challenge is for you to make this year different by doing something more. Make a donation. Volunteer your time. Send a message to these women that you see them and you recognize and value their service. Give back to those who have given and are giving so much to us.
Then, engage in social media, wave your flag and #ThankAVet.
